How the major stock indexes fared on Wednesday

Technology stocks fell Wednesday, dragged down by a diseased benefit news from business program builder Oracle Corp. Broad marketplace indexes were flat. The Dow Jones industrial average eked out a benefit of 4 points after carrying been down 104 points during midday. Technology bonds were a issue, with IBM a biggest decliner of a Dow's 30 stocks. IBM fell 3.1 percent, and Oracle fell 11.7 percent.

The Dow gained 4.16 points, or 0.03 percent, to tighten during 12,107.74.

The S&P 500 index gained 2.42 points, or 0.19 percent, to 1,243.72.

The Nasdaq combination index fell 25.76, or 1 percent, to 2,577.97.

For a week:

The Dow is adult 241.35, or 2 percent.

The S&P 500 index is adult 24.06, or 2 percent.

The Nasdaq is adult 22.64, or 0.9 percent.

For a year to date:

The Dow is adult 530.23 points, or 4.5 percent.

The S&P is down 13.92, or 1.1 percent.

The Nasdaq is down 74.90, or 2.8 percent.
